In May 2009, I graduated from the Department of Library and Information Studies, University at Buffalo (DLIS). As of February 1, 2010, I am the Associate Archivist at the American Jewish Archives. Since I began my graduate studies I have chosen courses and sought experience that would enhance my knowledge of archival theory and practice.
During my studies I have:
- Worked as a Processing Assistant in the University Archives where I learned practical skills in arrangement and description, creating EAD finding aids, preserving various objects and formats, and worked on digitization projects.
- Volunteered as an archivist for my hometown. This was an enriching experience that allowed me to give back to my community and gain experience working with 19th century materials.
- Staffed the Special Collections reference desk, responded to reference inquiries, conducted archival research, and created pathfinders for commonly requested subjects.
- Been hired as a Project Archivist for a grant-funded project at the Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum.
I am interested in several areas of the archives profession, including emerging technologies, arrangement and description, EAD, and reference. I am a dedicated person who follows through and am hard working.
Throughout my time in DLIS, I have been active in student organizations and served in the following positions:
